Practice Areas

John specializes in financial matters and debt settlement, with extensive experience in consumer bankruptcies, small business reorganizations, and tax resolution. He has guided both individual and business debtors through the complexities of cases filed under Chapters 7, 11, 12, and 13, facilitating their path to the fresh start envisioned by the Bankruptcy Code. John has also protected creditors’ rights in bankruptcy by negotiating payment terms, litigating contested issues, and preventing the discharge of client’s claims.

Outside of bankruptcy, John’s practice extends to business dissolutions, foreclosure defense, and civil litigation. He has a deep understanding of the legal complexities in every case and focuses on finding solutions tailored to the client’s goals and circumstances.

John grew up in Lancaster, Wisconsin, and attended the University of Wisconsin both as an undergraduate and as a law student. After graduating from law school in 2015, John worked at two firms in the Madison area before joining Stroud, Willink & Howard at the start of 2024.

 

Practice Experience

  • Successfully guided over 500 individuals through the Chapter 7 bankruptcy process, securing discharges of their debts and providing them with a fresh financial start.
  • Assisted over 50 families through Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings to prevent the foreclosure of their homes, enabling them to restructure their debts and create manageable repayment plans.
  • Represented numerous small businesses in reorganizing under Chapter 11 Subchapter V, helping them reduce debt and achieve financial stability while retaining ownership and control of their businesses.
  • Managed the out-of-court dissolution of several businesses, which included negotiating the release of personal guarantees and asset sales with creditor approval.
